Tanisha Burrus is passionate about helping students achieve their goals. In her eighteen years of working in student services, she has helped hundreds of students realize their potential through her dedication and personal approach to education. Tanisha believes that each student’s journey is unique and her job is to be an advocate who sets high expectations for students to surpass.

After graduating from the University of California, Davis, Tanisha served as the Director of Education at the Sylvan Learning Center in Elk Grove, CA. Later, she became the Middle School Coordinator for Mills College’s Educational Talent Search TRIO Program in Oakland. Serving as a coordinator, recruiter, and advisor for the TRIO program allowed Tanisha the opportunity to work with potential first-generation college students and share her own experiences as a first-generation university graduate. While there at the TRIO program Tanisha developed and implemented workshops for the students and their parents, giving them practical guidance and teaching them that education is an open door to success.

After leaving Mills College, Tanisha took on the role of MBA Admissions Coordinator at the University of California, San Diego’s Rady School of Management. At UCSD, Tanisha worked with a wide range of students, guiding them through the admissions process. She also served as the Student Affairs Officer for the African-American Studies minor program at the university.

In 2010, Tanisha moved with her family to Waco, TX, and served as a Financial Aid Technician at Texas State Technical College, helping students further their education through financial guidance. Additionally, she also worked as the Student Services and Logistics Coordinator at Rapoport Academy Public School: a charter/early college/STEM high school. At Rapoport Academy Tanisha was again able to provide pre-college counseling, as well as oversee all student organizations and events.

Currently, Tanisha resides with her husband and two children in Long Beach, CA, and continues to use her vast array of experiences to help students realize their full potential and find their way in the world of higher education.
